Submission Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in publishing with Eros & Evidence. We are seeking bold, embodied voices to contribute to the vital conversation at the intersection of sexuality, science, and healing. Our mission is to publish transformative works rooted in research, guided by lived experience, and dedicated to reclaiming desire, exploring intelligent intimacy, and honoring pleasure as deeply human.

Before submitting, please carefully review these guidelines to ensure your work aligns with our vision.

What We Are Looking For:

We are primarily interested in non-fiction manuscripts that thoughtfully and compellingly explore themes related to:

  • Sexuality: Including desire, pleasure, orientation, identity, relationships, sex education, sexual health, and cultural narratives around sex.

  • Science: Drawing on fields such as psychology, neuroscience, sociology, anthropology, biology, public health, and medicine to illuminate aspects of sexuality and healing. We value evidence-based approaches but are open to rigorous work from various methodologies.

  • Healing: Addressing personal and collective trauma, therapeutic modalities (somatic, psychological, etc.), relational repair, resilience, and the integration of body, mind, and spirit in the context of sexuality.

  • The Intersection: We are most excited by work that integrates these areas – where scientific inquiry meets lived experience, where healing practices are informed by evidence, and where personal narrative contributes to broader understanding.

We welcome submissions such as:

  • Academic Crossover: Rigorous research presented accessibly for a wider audience.

  • Guides & How-To: Practical, evidence-informed resources for personal growth, pleasure, or healing.

  • Memoir & Narrative Non-Fiction: Compelling personal stories that illuminate broader themes within our scope, grounded in reflection and insight.

  • Edited Collections: Thoughtfully curated essays or chapters from multiple contributors centered on a specific theme within our focus. (Please submit a proposal for the collection, not individual essays).

  • Therapeutic & Clinical Insights: Work from practitioners sharing models, research, or experiences relevant to sexuality and healing.

Open books arranged in a grid pattern, displaying pages with text, creating a vintage aesthetic.

Key Qualities We Seek:

  • Boldness: Willingness to explore complex or taboo subjects with courage and nuance.

  • Embodiment: Recognition of the body's wisdom and experience.

  • Evidence-Informed: Grounded in research, data, or demonstrable expertise (including rigorous analysis of lived experience).

  • Transformative Potential: Aims to catalyze personal insight, relational growth, or cultural change.

  • Clarity & Craft: Well-written, engaging, and accessible to an intelligent, curious readership.

What We Are Generally Not Looking For:

  • Purely academic texts with no crossover appeal.

  • Erotica or fiction unless it exceptionally serves the non-fiction exploration of our core themes (query first if unsure).

  • Work that promotes harm, pseudoscience without critical engagement, or lacks ethical grounding.

  • Submissions significantly outside our core focus (e.g., cookbooks, children's literature, general self-help unrelated to sexuality/healing/science).

We welcome proposals from researchers, clinicians, therapists, educators, journalists, artists, healers, and individuals with profound lived expertise relevant to our mission. You do not need to be a previously published author, but you should demonstrate strong writing skills and a clear vision for your project.

Submission Package Requirements: Please compile the following into a single document (Word .docx or PDF preferred):

Query Letter (1-2 pages):

  • Introduce yourself and your project.

  • Brief synopsis of the work.

  • Crucially, explain how your project specifically embodies the "Eros & Evidence" mission: How does it integrate sexuality, science, and/or healing? How is it rooted in both research/evidence and lived experience/embodiment?

  • Define your target audience.

  • Mention any relevant credentials, platform, or prior publications.

  • Include estimated word count and completion date.

Detailed Book Proposal (approx. 5-15 pages):

  • Full Synopsis: An expanded overview of the book's argument, narrative arc, and key takeaways.

  • Annotated Table of Contents: Chapter titles with brief (1-3 sentence) descriptions for each.

  • Market Analysis: Identify your specific audience and discuss 3-5 comparable or competing titles (published within the last 5 years), explaining how your book is different or offers a unique contribution.

  • Author Biography/CV: Detail your expertise, experience (professional and lived), and any platform relevant to promoting the book (website, social media presence, speaking engagements, professional network, etc.).

  • Sample Chapters (approx. 20-50 pages):

  • Include the Introduction and at least one, preferably two, representative chapters. These should showcase the tone, style, depth, and core content of your work.

Formatting:

  • Please use a standard font (e.g., Times New Roman, Arial, Calibri) in 12-point size.

  • Double-space the sample chapters. The proposal can be single-spaced with clear headings.

  • Include page numbers.

  • Email your complete submission package (as a single attachment) to: erosandevidence@gmail.com

  • Use the following subject line format: SUBMISSION: [Your Last Name] - [Proposed Book Title]

  • Example: SUBMISSION: Smith - The Neuroscience of Desire
